Plaid is truly one of my favorite prints and a necessity in every closet! It can be used as a staple in every style personality and sometimes even as the neutral/basic item in a specific look. It is a versatile print that is here to stay and can work for any season, layered or not. I have put together 3 completely different Fall Looks as a guide on how to style plaid but feel free to get as creative as you like.
This layered preppy look is a great example of mixing plaid with another print to create a unique look. The key to mixing prints is to stay within the same color scheme and be sure to mix a smaller print with a larger one to not look over done. In this case the larger print is on the plaid pants while the more subtle print is found on the blazer. I topped it off by incorporating a basic black top, black oxfords and a black choker for an easy and relaxed day time feel.
For this look, I wanted to play on the edgy rocker vibe that plaid sometimes creates but still keep it chic. The skirt maintains femininity while the leather moto jacket and lace-up ankle booties are edgy stunners. This is a great fall look when trying to mix things up a bit.
Look #3 is my favorite because it is unique and shows that a bold/risky print IS do-able. The key to rocking a look with a strong print is to keep everything else minimal; shoes, jewelry and other accessories. Let the statement piece in the look be the printed item.
